The Successful River Closure of Phase II of the 15

    The successful completion of the river closure for Phase II of the 15MW Pulanai Hydropower Project in the Philippines marks a significant milestone in the project’s construction progress.

    On April 6, consultants from the International Division of Hubei Shui Zong visited the project site to conduct a comprehensive inspection and operational planning for the Phase II river closure work, providing targeted technical recommendations. Under the coordination of Chief Engineer Xu Qiang, a command center was established on-site, led by key personnel including Project Manager Luo Wei, Deputy General Managers Huang Shanshan and Zhu Dongliang, Production Manager Yang Yunbo, and Design leader Yang Lei, to oversee construction coordination.At 16:08 on April 8, the project commenced the excavation of the upstream transverse cofferdam for Phase I diversion as scheduled, and the sluice gate achieved smooth water flow. On the morning of April 9, the river closure operation was officially launched. After intensive and orderly construction efforts, the closure was successfully completed at 18:38 that evening, marking the successful completion of the interception work.

    Looking back at Phase I of the Pulanai Project, the river closure was successfully completed on April 22 last year. Over the past year, the project team overcame multiple challenges, including two incidents of foundation pit flooding, and raced against time to recover the construction schedule. To date, the sluice gate has achieved stable water flow, the powerhouse concrete pouring has reached elevation 355, and electromechanical installation is progressing steadily without delays.The successful completion of the Phase II river closure fully demonstrates the project team’s expertise and perseverance, ensuring the project remains on track for subsequent construction milestones. The timely completion of this project will serve as a flagship achievement for the International Division of Hubei Shui Zong in the Philippines, enhancing the company’s reputation and solidifying its international profile.
